“The Herkimer Home sits at the crossroads of the past and the future. I volunteer because I want to be a part of preserving that experience for my community”  - Tom (3rd year volunteer)

Volunteering

The volunteer program at the Herkimer Home State Historic Site provides a diverse range of volunteer opportunities, from education to research and everything in between. Volunteers work in our visitor center, in the historic mansion and grounds, in our colonial and educational gardens and more. Volunteers also provide administrative assistance, marketing and publicity campaigns, and participate in all of our special events including Hollowed Ground, Sugaring Off Festival, A Toast to the General, History Camp and more!

Why Volunteer?

  • To preserve America’s heritage.
  • To give voice to the narrative of the Mohawk Valley experience
  • To fulfill a promise as stewards to new generations of Americans.
