Welcome
Welcome to HerkimerHomeAcademy.org. This is the online home of New York State's Herkimer Home State Historic Site. Our history as a state educational institution dates back to 1913 when the historic Georgian mansion of colonial war hero Nicholas Herkimer was purchased by the State of New York.
A century later, the Herkimer Home serves as the most recognized symbol of the Mohawk Valley's colonial roots and as a dependent source of rich educational programming for visitors of all ages.
Our educational goals as a historic site are to inspire, educate, and empower generations of visitors to make a difference in their communities. HerkimerHomeAcademy.org is the foundation for those goals. Use this website as a resource in your future explorations and adventures in the Mohawk Valley.
Sincerely,
Karen Sheckells
